CAMP BATS & BALLS
Project Chairs: Leslie McCormick & Whitney Sweeney
Asst. Chairs: Meagan Farrell & Nicole Moorman
Our 23rd year of Camp Bats & Balls might have been the most fun yet! We had 133 campers attend our morning camp with the Ole Miss Baseball team! We practiced grounding balls, base running, got to hit in the cages at Swayze, and even take pictures with the championship trophy. Special thanks to Coach Mike Bianco and the Ole Miss Baseball team for making this project happen every year.
This project is typically a half-day baseball skills camp for boys in 3rd & 4th grades. Camp Bats and Balls lets Junior Auxiliary of Oxford partner with the Ole Miss Baseball team at the Manning Center. The boys have the opportunity to experience a sports camp as they rotate through stations led by the team. The boys also receive an autographed photo, lunch donated by area restaurateurs, and a t-shirt.
In 2001, Camie Bianco was a member of JA and had the idea to start this baseball day camp for local kids. We are so grateful to her and Coach Bianco for making this camp into what it has become over the past two decades.
Thank you Stonewater Adolescent Recovery Center for sponsoring this project!
